Text mode is used instead of Visual.

Issue:

When a word is highlighted and assigned an external link with the toolbar, the word remains highlighted instead of the url.

Give it a try:

Write, "Link"
Highlight "Link"
Click "External Link" in the toolbar
The word link is highlighted instead of http://example.com

Real World Usage

It's most often that links are created after text blocks have been established. The link is copied, then an attempt is made to assign it to a bit of text. With the current design, the user must manually highlight the `http://example.com` then paste the saved link. (It's frustrating enough that I've made this ticket)
