Issue Summary
What needs updating:
Specifically the “2. Set up the shared directory” section should include a new “keys/” directory.
As of Jira 8.14 we introduced encryption with ldap/mail passwords stored in the database:
For this new feature, a "keys/" directory was added to Jira home to store the encryption keys.
Steps to Reproduce
- Upgrade Jira Server to JDC
- Do not copy the "keys/" directory to share home
Expected Results
Jira works as expected. Can still access LDAP and mail servers.
Actual Results
If customers do not copy this folder to their shared home, they will be locked out of LDAP and mail servers. An related existing KB article was already created for this problem:
We should get the official installation documentation updated to prevent customers from running into this problem.
Workaround
- Copy the "keys/" directory from local home to shared home
- Restart Jira
