Project drop down slow in basic JQL search, having project count more than 2k

      Summary:

      When user tries to search issues using basic JQL search, they are allowed to filter projects based upon the dropdown selectable projects items. As the project count increases, the project drop down grows lengthier and forming the checkbox + avatar inclusive menu item to be selectable by user in project drop down becomes costlier.

      Here is what the profiling data suggest during the in-house simulation of the situation:

      Suggestion:

      We could use the pattern of forming a set of menu items at first rather than forming it for entire 2k at once(similar to what we do for advanced search).

            We are getting daily complaints about this from users and would appreciate this being looked at as soon as possible.

            This is important for a large Jira instance like my Organization has, the project list load takes like 1-2 minutes which is a bad user experience.

            Thank you guys for understanding the problem. That saves a lot time on load for people/companies with more than XL stuff instances. Load on web is crucial.
