Currently, Epic Link field is locked in Jira and cannot be used as mandatory when moving tickets or other issue actions.

It would be useful if we could have the functionality to make the Epic Link field required out of the box (without the need to unlock the field in the Jira database).

Workaround

The only way to perform make this field mandatory when moving issues, is by setting it as Required on the target field configuration scheme. Also, since it is Locked, is necessary to follow the below steps:

1. Follow the steps on Unlock a locked Jira Software custom field documentation to unlock the Epic Link field
2. Go to Cog icon -> Issues -> Field configurations
3. Click on the target project field configuration
4. Find the Epic Link field
5. Click on Required
6. Follow the steps on Unlock a locked Jira Software custom field documentation to Lock the field again
   Make sure to Lock the field again after performing the above steps.
