Currently my organization is required to set a timeout threshold in Crowd of 15 minutes, due to security regulations. We support users in JSM who often have to write lengthy comments that take over 15 minutes to compose. We would like for those users to be notified of their inactivity before being logged out. Currently they'll post their comment after writing it for 15+ minutes, and the entire text is lost because the user is logged out upon submitting their comment.

I agree with this idea for regulated installations of Jira Data Center.
Even with a system enabled with SSO, having the interface timeout while composing or legitimately timeout while working in a different application, and THEN returning to the session and beginning to compose but with no change to the UI that the session is ended, you can end up in the same place - information entered into the UI is lost.
