Description
Steps to Reproduce
- Navigate to the View Issue screen of an Epic that has children Stories
- Move mouse to the right of one of the children (Stories), found within the "Issues in Epic" web panel, notice that a quick access gear (dropdown) will appear
- Click the pull-down of the access gear image and select "Create sub-task" (see screenshot below)
(screenshot notes: Epic is TST-24, child Story is TST-4)
Expected Results
Sub-task is created as the child of the Story (TST-4, the grandchild of the parent Epic), much like if Edit was selected from the quick access menu
Actual Results
Sub-task is created as the child of the Epic (TST-24)
Notes
Relates to current feature request:
JSWSERVER-15705 - Improper Message: A subtask cannot be assigned to an epic
Workaround
Do not use the quick access dropdown for sub-task creation.
Either:
- Navigate to the Story which is intended to be the parent and create the sub-task from there, or:
- Use a third-party add-on to automatically add sub-task children using post functions
