Summary

Project Links used to be popular in old versions of JIRA and Applinks plugin. But in modern versions, it has become redundant/obsolete in a sense that it doesn't add much value to Applinks related features.

Suggestion

There have been a few suggestions on improving Applinks related features:

• More Permission Options for Development Tools
• Disable or limit the "Create Branch" option
• Display Name together with Type when linking JIRA to multiple applications of the same type

This ticket suggests that Project Links be improved to become more useful/powerful for Applinks related features, in a sense that it can help achieve one or more of the above suggestions. For example:

• If JIRA is integrated with 2 Bitbucket instances
• JIRA Project A is linked with Bitbucket Project B
• A JIRA user tries to create a branch from JIRA issue A-1
• JIRA should understand that the branch is to be created in Bitbucket Project B
