    Description

      Hello,

We look at your recommendation for the base Systems.

The databases which you show in your compatibility list are old for Oracle, MSSQL and Postgres for example.

Databases are very important for the complete system. Why don't you use the current standards for performance and high availability.

I am fan of your products for several years.
From user perspectice your products are innovative and are so close on real life.
Please come closer to the current releases.

We have several vendors for erp, crm, etc.
Most of them are close to current releases for database and other components.
Some of them have automated test for that.

If I do some comparison then we have to update your releases each year or we use the long term version then we have 2 years.
The long term release is an old one.
So from your side you put pressure on the costumer for the current releases.
We have to focus the complete chain for a supported system.
For an old system that's nearly impossible, because you have Bugs, fixes and Update on all Levels, from Hardware, driver, OS up to the application.
You support several databases, that's great. So you are relatively close to the ANSI Standard for databases.
So you have nearly no functional issues on database release changes, you have to expect performance changes in other query handling.
Please regard some special functions on the different database products.
For example on SQL Server you have the compatibility mode for those challenges.
That means you install an SQL Server 2017, but you can change the compatibility mode for each database, to the supported Release/Mode.
So you can run in SQL Server 2016 Mode, but 2017 is installed.
Microsoft has explicit this feature for these situations.
These functions are also available in ORACLE or postgresql for example.
As far as I know are you working straight forward and don't do any tricks on databases servers.
If you support those setups you would take pressure of your supported equipment.

We're looking forward to you supporting the latest DB versions

      Thanks in advance.
      Kind regards

      Reinhard
