Right-click on issue on a board focuses the issue, losing any comment you're typing :(

      Steps to reproduce

      1. Go to a board (instance: Bulldog)
      2. Click an issue X, so the 'detail view' pops up on the right
      3. Write a comment, don't save it
      4. Right-click an issue Y on the board, e.g. to copy issue URL

      Expected result

Issue X is in detail view, comment is still in 'edit' mode

      Actual result

Issue Y is in detail mode, comment is lost

      This is particularly annoying, as:

      • Description or any other field in 'detail mode' is 'inline' editable and saved upon navigating away
      • Any other comment or page where you navigate away from something you're editing has a 'Are you sure you want to navigate away? You'll lose your things'
      • Right-click should not trigger another issue to get focused/become detail-moded

NB this was on version 7.8.0-RELEASE-BDOG-2815, but had to select an affected version below (so chose 7.7.0 Server)

This has happened several more times to me since I last posted in the correspondence. I can't possibly be the only person experiencing this issue? It's incredibly frustrating to have my comments wiped out while typing.

To add to the previous comment, I've also seen the automatic refresh cause an in-progress to be discarded. Though a bit difficult to reproduce, it happens regularly enough that I can't rely on Jira to not delete my comment while I'm putting one together. I have a short video that shows the behavior but am not allowed to attach it to this comment. If you're interested, please get in touch.

Not sure if I should create a new ticket for this, but it also happens (more frequently since we updated to 7.12.1) when having the board open, commenting in the issue view; then switching tabs to copy detail from a different ticket (or some other system that isn't Jira). When switching back (and presumably something changed), the board automatically reloads and discards the comment.

            Steps to reproduce:

            1. Grab a board with 2 Issues
            2. Open Issue 1 in a new tab
            3. Select Issue 2 and start commenting
            4. Switch to the tab with Issue 1 and "Start progress" (or "Resolve", or any other status change)
            5. Switch back to the board; notice it reload and lose the entered comment for Issue 2

This should be fairly common if you don't work alone on the board, so I'm kinda wondering why this issue doesn't get more attention.

Note this also happens when you left-click any other issue (to drag it around, to do multi-select or anything else).
In the plain issue view (also on Jira Core), a browser popup warns you about navigating away; but in the Board (both Backlog and Active Sprint) it silently drops everything and navigates away.
