Smart Commits do not work when Project has numeric characters in key

We have a project that has the key P4F and any commits to it with the Github connector does not work. I tried with a dummy project that has key TEST and it works fine. From the documentations the format has to be 2 upper case characters but it should also work for any alpha numeric characters as well. We don't want to change our keys as we would have to back up all of our data and change xmls around, and then change the db reference to reference the new project.
