Description
Default JIRA 6.4 installs HSQL database. HSQL database is not supported in the 7.1 migration. The upgrade script doesn't tell you this, and if you run the script, it causes the JIRA install to essentially be corrupt, requiring you to uninstall JIRA completely, as far as I can tell from the community answers.
Compounding the issue, it is very difficult to locate the 6.4 installer on the website now, which is required to remedy the problem. Try locating it with Google or on the Atlassian home page.
For more information and a screenshot of the error see the support question:
https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/37039777/migrating-6.4-to-7.0-while-on-deprecated-hsql-on-linux-error-message-says-to-start-jira-7.0-but-does-not-state-how-to-do-this
Expected result:
JIRA upgrade script should fail early with an error saying you must first migrate your database before migrating to 7.1
