1. Create a sample project in JIRA Agile through (Agile > Getting Started > create a sample project) for Scrum or Kanban.
2. When the operations timeouts (currently it's after 120 seconds) the error message is displayed - this is fine, project and board has been probably created.
3. Go back and change project name/key and hit next
4. Error message is still there but there's no timeout yet. This message should be cleared.

Which JIRA version did you test with? I can't reproduce the issue in a new JIRA 6.3.8 with JIRA Agile 6.6.0.

I think it was JIRA Agile 6.6.0 and JIRA 6.3.6 but I don't think that JIRA version could make a difference here. I spotted this issue when testing changes made for
GHS-9965which got fixed for 6.6.0. It could be that I used a 6.6.0 snapshot and this got fixed some time later in 6.6.0
