Changing status via drag&drop not possible within same column

Changing the status of an issue via drag&drop is not possible within the same column. This is possible without problem, as long as the status is in another column. However, if I want to change from status 'new' to 'open', both status being assigned to the same column 'In Progress', then this is not possible via drag and drop.

Please fix this.
