We have a specific section in our dashboards to demonstrate issues that were removed from the sprint. To do that, we use pre-saved filters with the WAS operator inside the JQL clause.

When an initiative is for just one project and is related to one or more versions to the project, there are no problems. Because, in this particular case, we use the version as the base for JQL and WAS operator is allowed.

But, on the other hand, when the initiative involves more than one project and we we need to use Scrum Rapid Boards with special field SPRINT. This field just doesn't allow history searches.
