      becauHi,

      I had this request today.

filling our planning board for the next SCRUM, we have the following problem:
      1) Filter issues on : Severity, priority
      2) This shows a list in the best order for us to solve the issues.
      3) We would like to rank this list for top to bottom, to reflect this selection in our planning board. For this we would have to be able to batch change the rankings of the JIRA issues.
When we currently go to the planning board, the sorting order does not reflect the sorted order in the filter. Having a lot of issues open, it takes a lot of work to manually change the ranking in the planning board. Is there a clever method of adjusting the ranking to reflect the filter sort order.

It seems to me it would be nice to be able to say "Take the order the issues appear to me in right now and set this as the ranked order", with appropriate warning and permission restriction of course.

      Cheers,

      Ximon

      Workaround

To work around this issue in GreenHopper 6.1.3 or later, please try the following steps:

      1. Determine your preferred rank order field (for example, I'll use Story Points)
      2. Create quickfilters for each valid Story Point value - ex, Story Points = 1, Story Points = 2, Story Points = 3, Story Points = 5, etc
      3. Enable the quick filter that corresponds with the lowest-rank tickets
      4. Select all Cards shown
      5. Disable quick filter
      6. Right click one of the Cards that are still selected
      7. Select Rank To Bottom
      8. Repeat steps 3-7 until complete

Adding a vote for this feature. Easy sorting of the backlog would be extremely useful!

I agree that the ability to sort the backlog would be extremely helpful, especially at the start of planning.

Yes, please. I would like to run an Issue query of the Backlog items (sorted by Summary ASC) and then, using the view I have in front of me, do something that will re-rank the items accordingly.

            Maybe clear the Ranking ?

The workaround doesn't work for us. Our customer issues are ranked using a weighted formula, which creates a very large range of possible values. We have no choice but to manually update the rank by going through each issue one by one!

We have big problems because testing must clear the ranking manually afer resolve (open --> testung) Jira.

It would be nice to define "clear ranking" in the "Post Functions" !

Would be a huge time saver

We are also having these types of requests. In our case we are using Jira 4.2.2 and GH 5.4

I am preparing to roll out JIRA and GreenHopper to our organization and am actually using GreenHopper to manager the roll out

As I am managing the back log and preparing for the next sprint, I reviewed and set all the priorities and then wanted to do a planning meeting. I looked for a way to initialize the ranking based on priority (i.e. my sort order) and could not find one. This would be a great time saver and would also help bring JIRA priority and GreenHopper rank into a more useful relationship.
