The "group by" custom field on a Plan view settings, does not show a breakdown when stories cannot be grouped

      Problem

      When an epic is under unassigned issues in plans, where the child issues(story was not assigned to a custom field value), the group by option on the custom field value, does not group the parent EPIC.

      Suggested Solution

      It would be nice to see the breakdown of the children in the same view, and specify that the grouping only counts on the top level of the view. ( put a message in plans when group by is used)

      Why This Is Important

      This avoids the confusion on the plans, which makes the customers think that it is not working as expected.

      Workaround

      Once the story is added to a custom field value, the issues are moved to the right groupings.
