Changing the parent on the JSM request create form as an agent has no effect

      Issue Summary

      JSM Agents cannot update a request’s parent via the new Parent field on the create request form.

      This is reproducible on Data Center: No

      The rollout of the new Parent field (see this community announcement) has revealed a subtle bug that will affect some JSM customers. On sites with default values for epic link or parent link, agents will not be able to update a request’s parent via the new Parent field on the create request form.

      Note: The parent can still be updated in the issue view after it’s created.

      Note: Customers of these customers (aka Portal customers) are unaffected as they see the portal form and this does not include any parent information.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Configure a request form with a default epic link value
      2. As an agent, create a new request of this type
      3. The parent field will be visible (to the agent only)
      4. Change the parent field value to point to a different parent

      Expected Results

      The modified parent field value will be used as the new issue’s parent.

      Actual Results

      The default value for the epic link will actually be used as the new issue’s parent instead.

      Workaround

      • Do not change the value of the parent field during request creation.
      • Change the parent after creation in the issue view.
