As I understand from the Nextgen Roadmap documentation (https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/whats-new/next-gen#result-ac97c335) this story 17392 will only deliver a new view of the the stories under the epic in the roadmap ..!?

So according to the visual shown on the URL above, it would not be possible to change the dates of the story by dragging the item on the timeline as is already possible for the epics. That would really be a missed opportunity, since now you can already see how the stories add up to the epic in the side panel right?

Being able to manually schedule issues by dragging and dropping them in the timeline would save a huge amount of time!  (like possible in the "improved planning interface" of Jira Portfolio - server version; https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiraportfolioserver/3-creating-portfolio-plans-970267321.html

Can you share information about this @Erika?

This looks like it should be working on our roadmap, though the story issues aren't displaying. I've made sure the start/due dates are showing for Epic and Story issue types, and are set. The progress bar is showing below each Epic. The stories linked to each epic aren't showing on the roadmap view.
