I have been a Jira user for 5 years and have been mostly happy with the software but today I have decided to do what I have never done in 5 years - to write down how stupid the security and permissions management is in JIRA. Frankly, I am appalled at how complicated and unintuitive it is.

Within every project there is People section. What good is it if adding people there does not give them access to this project?

After many hours of adjusting permission schemes, I managed to set it up so that an issue can be assigned to a user... who cannot see the issue! Why ohh why do you let issues to be assigned to users who cannot see them?!

And I do not want to get into Permission Scheme management. it is simply not worth my time. Toi add a user to Jira and give them access to one project is simply mission impossible and requires a certification in Jira management and likely 6 months of training.
