Summary
When configuring columns in the board settings, there is no 
help that leads you to a documentation on how to do this or the importance of the "colours" when mapping the statuses.
This leaves users unaware of these factors and ultimately, incorrectly, setting up their boards.
Suggested solution
Ideally, there should be a leading users to the Configuring columns documentation and more emphasis on the importance of the colours representation.

| The “Configuring a Board” page mentions nothing about the importance of column positions or colours in relation to issues being completed. It just talks about customizing colours as if it is purely aesthetic. The JIRA UI makes no indication either. Even if this is working as you expect, I would consider it a documentation or usability bug |
