Summary

Completing sprint in JIRA 7.0 moves unresolved issues to backlog instead of next planned sprint

Steps to reproduce the problem

1. Have an active sprint with few unresolved issues
2. Plan the next sprint in the same board
3. Click on complete sprint

Expected result

Unresolved issues should be moved to the next planned sprint, as mentioned in the documentation Completing a sprint.

Any issues not completed at the end of the sprint will be moved to the next planned sprint. If you do not have a next planned sprint, they will be returned to the Backlog.

Actual Result

Issues are moved to backlog, even when there is a next sprint planned in the board

Resolution

This has been fixed in JIRA Software 7.1.x where there is option that the user can choose whether to move the unresolved issues to backlog or certain next sprint.
