As a Jira User I do not want changes to "Rank" to trigger a Issue Updated events, or to appear in the activity stream

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

We're often moving issues up/down the backlog, or on a board, which in turn updates the Rank.

When this happens an "Issue updated" event gets fired, resulting in an email notification being sent.

We would like to distinguish between normal edits to an issue (e.g. changes to description, status, comments) and updates to "Rank", but as far as I can see this is not currently possible - which means that users get lots of "update" notifications that they are not interested in (and consequently often ignore the ones they should be interested in)

Similarly, changes to "Rank" appear in the Activity Stream, often obscuring useful information.

I would like to see a Jira Agile setting that says something like "Disable notifications for changes to Rank" that optionally prevents the "Issue updated" event being fired, and the activity stream being updated.
