    • We collect Jira Service Desk feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

In certain situations, when Jira user is being synced from LDAP (Read-only) or if "External user management" is set to ON, upon reset password request, Jira will send a mail notification to the user with the following content:

Password resetting is disabled for your user name.
Please ask your Jira Service Desk administrator to enable password resets.

In this case, user would like customers to contact Jira administrator to reset the password and therefore, it would be useful if we could be able to change the text of this mail notification.

[JSDSERVER-6123] Modify "Password resetting is disabled" mail notification content

This is a really important change for us. Our Service Desk instance supports internal and external customers, so we have the internal database for the external customers and LDAP (read-only) for the internal customers. The latter do sometimes forget their password and Jira (Service Desk) helpfully provides a link for that scenario ... but then they get the less-than-helpful email provided in the description above.

We do have a process for staff to follow that allows them to reset their password and I would like to be able to modify the mail content to remind them of that process. At the moment, my only recourse is to modify JAR files which means remembering to do that every time Jira gets upgraded.

I appreciate that there is additional complexity around different languages, but Service Desk allows you to change the messages sent back for notifications so I would hope that this mail content could be added as an extension of that process.
