      Problem Definition

At the moment, admin only able to export objects from the object type page.

      Suggested Solution

It will be best to be able to export the whole object schema instead of export each object type. On top of that , able to import the object schema using the object schema export file. This is applicable when user would like to import from a different Cloud instance.

      Workaround

Admin needs to export from object type.

            Hello All,

While Atlassian works on new features, I wanted to share that here at Revyz, we have developed a solution to address following 'Assets export' related pain points:

            • Daily backup of Asset Configuration & Objects
            • Bulk / Granular recovery of Assets Configuration & Objects to older version
            • Prod to Sandbox cloning of Assets configuration
            • Daily analytics on creation, modification & deletion of Assets Configuration
            • Comparing Assets configuration within same site or across two different sites
            • Long term retention of backed up data

I'm joining the chorus. How can this feature not be available? We do our development work in the sandbox and do not want to recreate it all in production.  The ability to export and import an asset database schema seems essential.

My scenario is fairly standard. I am testing a setup in a sandbox environment, and now want to export it to the live environment.,...but wait... Jira doesn't support this. I can import into the live environment...but I cannot export from the sandbox.

This should be a standard scenario - first testing, then go live, and the idea that I will have to just wing it, or duplicate manual work is just disappointing on the same level as needing to fax someone for verification. What even is a fax ?

            Hello everyone!

We are Twinit, an Atlassian Marketplace vendor and recently we have released an app that satisfies the requirements for Assets (formerly Insight) backup. With Insight Assets Backup you can backup and restore certain schemas either in the original or into another cloud instance, store the backups either in Cloud or in your MongoDB and more. For the details please refer to the app documentation.

You can try the app and if you have any questions and/or suggestions, please let us know by opening a ticket on our Service Desk. We are constantly working on improvements, so your wishes and comments have huge value to us.

            Best regards,

            Hello!

Thanks very much for your input on this suggestion. It is our intention that this be possible in future, however it's not on our immediate roadmap. Our focus at the moment is on:

            • Increasing Insight's scalability to support many more objects and allowing larger imports.
            • Making our API's available on Forge.
            • Improving and harmonising the Insight user experience with the rest of JSM / Atlassian.

I'll provide further updates as this is scheduled in our roadmap.

            All the best,

This functionality would satisfy 2 scenarios which are very important to us:

            • Recovery of environments, backups of the different object schemas are made which allow us to do a recovery when required
            • Cloning information from an environment into another for testing scenarios.
