Current State:

Atlassian Service Accounts (introduced in August 2025) are not currently entitled to call Jira Service Management Operations API endpoints, either at a Global scope or as part of a team.  These are the Operations APIs responsible for configuring Operations which require API token or OAuth 2.0 tokens.

This does not touch on the Operations API Integration Events APIs, which use the original GenieKey API token authentication method.

Proposed Future State:

• Atlassian Service Accounts will be able to be added to an Atlassian Team and use Operations APIs for that team.
• Atlassian Service Accounts will be able to be granted a scope allowing them to perform Operations APIs at the global scope.

Alternative (e.g. Third Party Plugin):

For now, you will need to use the JSM Operations LIST API endpoints with a valid Atlassian account that has User agent access in JSM.
