The feed currently is RSS 0.92, which has several deficiencies, the most severe being not including date metadata in each entry. As a result, the site doesn't come up ideally in newsreaders. Also, some of the current crop of news readers (eg Newsgator) don't seem to support earlier versions of RSS.

I notice that this was done in Confluence a year ago (conf-2569), but doesn't seem to have made it into JIRA yet
