We have this issue in Jira 3.11. We are also using UTF-8 encoding.

            Hi Anders,

Apologies if I have resolved this issue prematurely - please let me know and I can reopen it. Hopefully the solution to JRA-5176 addresses your issue in JIRA 3.5.

            Regards,
            Keith

            Hi Brian & Ziv,

The JIRA server Ziv and I use has Character Encoding: UTF-8 and Indexing Language: english
Some of the people in the company have scandinavian letters in there names (i.e. æøå) which gave the problem descibed in JRA-5176 so we changed from default encoding ANSI_X3.4-1968 to UTF-8.

            Best regards, Anders.

            HI Ziv,

Good to hear that you can workaround the problem. But if this becomes a consistent error in later versions do not hesitate to contact us so we can resolve the issue for you.

            Thanks,
            Brian

            Hi Brian

Thanks for your reply. I believe we use standard encoding and the text is in English.
I'll try to split the search text into 2 parts to overcome this probelm, since it cannot be replicated.

            Hi Ziv,

I have not been able to replicate this probllem on JIRA 3.3.3 standalone. What character encoding are you currently using? There may be a problem searching for text that contains umlauts and other special characters.

            Thanks,
            Brian
