Problem Statement:

As an administrator, I want Jira to perform better mail verification to ensure that each message in the linked inbox has been successfully processed and the associated issue updated. 

Issue Summary

When Jira is setup to use an incoming mail server using IMAP, messages are marked as "read" after it scans the inbox and tries to process the email. If for some reason the message is rejected it will also mark it as Read. As a result, if there is any issue with the email the administrator would have to manually mark the message as unread in order to Jira to try and reprocess it.

Workaround

Manually Mark Emails as Unread to allow Jira to try and process it another time.
