Problem Description

The Custom Field Optimizer in Jira Data Center provides useful recommendations for field cleanup, but there is no way to export the report data (e.g., to CSV or Excel) for further analysis outside of Jira.

Administrators managing large instances with hundreds or thousands of custom fields need to cross-reference optimizer results with other data sources (workflow associations, screen usage, app dependencies) to make informed keep/remove decisions. Without an export, this analysis must be done manually by reviewing results one-by-one in the UI.

Suggested Resolution

Add an export option (CSV or Excel) to the Custom Field Optimizer results page, including at minimum: field name, field ID, field type, recommendation type, associated projects, and context details.

Why this is important

Large-scale field cleanup is a multi-step process that often involves multiple stakeholders (admins, project leads, app owners). An exportable report allows teams to collaborate on cleanup decisions in a spreadsheet, track progress, and document rationale — none of which is practical when the data is locked inside the optimizer UI.
