When using the global + Create button in Jira Cloud (Jira Software projects), I’d like to be able to choose a Jira Form / Advanced Form where one or more forms are associated to the target project and issue type.
similar to the UI found https://indeed.atlassian.net/jira/forms/create but easier for end user to find or use by default.
Current behaviour
- Click + Create → select Project and Issue type.
- The dialog shows the default Create screen fields configured for that issue type.
- Jira Forms exist for that project/issue type, but they’re only available:
-
- Via the project’s Forms tab, or
-
- Via a shared Form URL.
- Internal docs explicitly say that Forms don’t replace the Create button and are an alternate submission path.
Requested behaviour
- When a project/issue type has one or more Forms configured, the Create Issue dialog should:
-
- Detect that and surface a “Use a form” option, or
-
- Provide a Form dropdown after project + issue type are chosen.
- Selecting a Form would:
-
- Switch the dialog to that Form layout instead of the raw Create screen, while
-
- Still respecting the underlying required fields and field configuration.
Why this matters
- Many teams want to standardize intake for certain issue types, but users still naturally start from the + Create button.
- Today we have to:
-
- Educate users to ignore + Create and instead find/share the Form link, or
-
- Maintain parallel experiences (Create dialog vs Form) that collect slightly different data.
- Surfacing Forms directly in the global Create UI would:
-
- Reduce mis‑routed / low‑quality tickets,
-
- Make it easier for casual users (they don’t need to remember special URLs), and
-
- Align with how forms are already tied to project + issue type.
Nice‑to‑have details
- Ability to mark a default form per issue type that the Create dialog uses automatically.
- Ability to still “Show all fields” / fall back to the classic Create screen if needed.
