Issue Summary
Application Navigator shows HTML-encoded instance names (for example, '&' instead of '&') for linked Jira/Bitbucket applications.
Steps to Reproduce
Step 1 — Set instance names containing “&”
In Jira
- Log in as an admin
- Go to Administration → System → General Configuration
- Click Edit Settings
- Set the Title field containing: &
- Save the configuration
In Bitbucket
- Log in as an admin
- Go to Administration → Server settings
- Set the Display Name / Server Name containing: &
- Save the configuration
Step 2 — Create Application Links between Jira and Bitbucket
From Jira
- Go to Administration → Applications → Integrations → Application Links
- Enter the Bitbucket base URL
- Create and confirm the link
From Bitbucket
- Go to Administration → Application Links
- Enter the Jira base URL
- Create and confirm the link
(Ensure both links show as Connected.)
Step 3 — Check the Application Navigator in Jira
- In Jira, look at the top-left navigation bar (Application Navigator)
- You will see the Bitbucket application name showing as '&' in place of '&'
Step 4 — Check the Application Navigator in Bitbucket
- In Bitbucket, look at the top-left navigation bar
- You will see the Jira application name showing as '&' in place of '&'
Screenshots has been attached from Jira & Bitbucket Instances for the affected versions.
Note: We tested on the Jira Latest release of 10.3.14, and the issue is also reproducible there, and also on the latest releases of Jira 11.3.0 with Bitbucket v10.1.2
Expected Results
Each application should display the remote instance name exactly as configured, including special characters like '&'
Actual Results
The name is incorrectly HTML-encoded ('&' becomes '&') when viewed in another application.
Workaround
Currently, there is no known workaround for this behaviour. A workaround will be added here when available
