Problem
The Jira Rich Text Gadget (com.atlassian.jira.gadgets:rte-text-gadget) fails to render or configure when embedded in Confluence.
When users attempt to add the gadget via the Jira Gadget macro in Confluence, the configuration dialog appears blank and no content can be added.
Other Jira gadgets (e.g., Assigned to Me, Filter Results, Pie Chart) work correctly in the same environment, indicating this issue is specific to the Rich Text gadget.
Environment
- Jira Data Center: 9.12.x → 10.3.x
- Confluence Data Center: 7.19.x, 8.5.x, 9.2.7
- Gadget Host:
- Bundled External Gadgets (7.19 / 8.5)
- Gadgets for Confluence app 100.0.9 (Marketplace addon)
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a valid application link between Jira and Confluence (OAuth 1.0).
- In Confluence, edit or create a page.
- Insert the Jira Gadget macro.
- From the macro list, select Rich Text Gadget (com.atlassian.jira.gadgets:rte-text-gadget).
- Attempt to configure or insert the gadget onto the page.
Expected Results
The Rich Text Gadget configuration UI should appear (editable text area).
User should be able to add content and successfully insert the gadget onto the Confluence page, similar to how it functions in a Jira dashboard.
Actual Results
- The configuration window opens but remains blank (no editable field or buttons).
- The gadget cannot be configured.
Workaround
No known workaround.
Notes
- Confluence logs show that the gadget spec is retrieved successfully, but no configuration event occurs afterward.
- Other Jira gadgets (e.g., Assigned to Me) work as expected in the same environment.
