Issue Summary

It is not possible to make a part of the word bold in text mode. Works in visual mode.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Type the word in text mode.
2. Put *at the beginning and end of that part of the word.
3. Switch back to visual mode and it will not work.

Expected Results

The part of word should be bold like this : abcd.

Actual Results

Instead of the above expected render, it becomes ab*cd*.

Workaround

Only using Visual mode is the workaround.
