while it is possible to select the currentUser as creator of a ticket in the basic search...

...the same feat can't be achieved when trying to select the currentUser as Watcher: 

 

 

In such instances the user has to switch to JQL and add or enter the appropriate search string (watcher = currentUser) which in itself is probably unknown to the standard Jira user. 

 

It would be therefore most helpful to add the currentUser in the selection of Watcher in the basic search since the option to save the applied filter is also something that a lot of users (in our company) aren't even aware of or refrain from using since they deem it too complicated...
