Issue Summary
When installing a Marketplace App via Upload from URL, the administrator should see the progress of the file download and then the App installation.
Starting on Jira 10.6.0 this progress status bar is not appearing.
Note the App is actually installed and it's just the progress bar on the UI that isn't shown.
This is not a good UI experience to the user as they won't know if the operation is in-progress until it completes.
This same problem also affects the UI on the Versions & licenses admin page when upgrading/installing Jira applications (JSM or JSW).
Although the process is occurring, no UI feedback is shown as it used to occur. The screenshot below shows the status bar is missing, but the process is actually occurring on the background.
Steps to Reproduce
- Install a vanilla instance of Jira Software Data Center 10.6.0.
- Enable plugin upload as detailed on How to re-enable plugin upload in Jira Data Center.
- Get the link of an App from the Marketplace.
- For example https://marketplace.atlassian.com/download/apps/1227901/version/200000020, which is for the Application tunnels App.
- Go to Administration > Manage Apps > Manage Apps.
- Click on Upload App.
- On Upload from URL, add the link from the Marketplace and click on Upload
Expected Results
A pop-up appears with the status of the download and then about the installation of the App, similar to the below.
Actual Results
Nothing is shown to the user on the UI until the App is installed.
If you open the Browser developer tools to monitor the network requests you notice some process is happening on the background, but the status bar is not shown to the administrator.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.
