Issue Summary
In the recent versions of Jira v10.3.X and above, the vertical scroll bar in “Configure fields” on “edit issue" screen is missing. This limits the visibility of number of customfields available in the instance to short list of 28-30 entries (max).
This is reproducible on Data Center: (yes) / (no)
Steps to Reproduce
- Assuming your system is set up with many - probably custom - fields (see System Requirements note below).
- Access any issue from GUI (see System Requirements note below).
- Click on Edit Issue.
- Click on configure fields → Select “Custom Fields” or “All Fields”.
- No scroll bar is present.
- Note: Scroll bar is present if you resize the browser Window.
System Requirements
This only happens when there are lots of fields present when trying to "configure fields" as detailed below - maybe over 30 fields are required.
It also only happens when the browser window isn't quite large enough to accommodate all the fields that should be shown when attempting to "configure fields".
Expected Results
The vertical scroll bar is present when using "configure fields" on edit issue screen. This should help users to view all the customfields available in the instance.
Actual Results
- The vertical scroll bar is missing under both filter conditions: “Custom Fields” or “All -Fields”.
- This actually limits the number of customfield visibility to only 28-30 entries (max) and rest of the customfields are not visible/selectable for users. This will be problematic for instances with large number of fields.
Workaround
Change the size of the browser window whilst the "configure fields" dialog is present.
One way of doing this is to open the "Developer Tools" option within the browser page (not in a separate window) and select the "Network" option. This will enable the option to view the scroll bar and you can make changes as required. OR use the standard (create, edit) issue screen configuration pages to make changes for respective issue types in the system.
You can minimize the developer tools section (after opening) to perform the operations.
