Issue Summary

Keyboard focus does not return to the triggering element of “Advanced Roadmaps keyboard shortcuts” modal dialog.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open the "Home" page.
2. Navigate to the header section.
3. Using a keyboard or screen reader 'Tab' key, navigate to the "Help" button and activate it using Enter/Space.
4. Navigate using arrow keys to the "Advanced Roadmaps keyboard shortcuts" button and activate it> a modal appears.
5. Close the dialog using the “Close” button and try to navigate further using 'Tab' key.
6. Observe that the focus moves to the beginning of the page.

Actual Results

On closing the "Advanced Roadmaps keyboard shortcuts" modal dialog that becomes available on activating the "Help" and "Advanced Roadmaps keyboard shortcuts" buttons in the header section, the programmatic focus does not return to the triggering element. Instead, the focus moves to the beginning of the page.

This required screen reader users and keyboard-only users to tab-pass the content on the page before they could interact with the content after the triggering elements.

Expected Results

The programmatic focus of users should be set on the parent triggering element of the dialog as soon as the dialog is closed such as the “Help” button.

Set the keyboard focus to the triggering element of the dialog using JavaScript .focus().

Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.
