Issue Summary
If the users don't have Edit issue permission when they search issue in basic mode by using the Epic Link as a filter, they get the following error: "You don't have permission to edit this epic, so you can't assign your issue to it"
Doing the same search in advance mode works without any error message being displayed.
Steps to Reproduce
- Assign normal user Browse Projects permission but no Edit Issues permission
- Create an issue by admin user and assign an Epic link A to this issue
- Login to Jira as a normal user
- Click Search for Issues > Basic > More, search and tick Epic Link
- Tick Epic link A and click Update
Expected Results
The Basic Search should bring the results according to the parameters set
Actual Results
The user receives the error message "You don't have permission to edit this epic, so you can't assign your issue to it". **
Workaround
- Switch to Advanced Search instead of the Basic Search. There is no validation error when running the JQL search using the Epic Link field.
- In the Basic search view, if the user ignores the error and clicks Search again, the correct records will be return
