Dashboards only support a single column layout, unlike Confluence pages where I can create different column layouts on a page by using sections.

This leaves out a lot of possibilities in creating useful dashboards, especially as some gadgets need little horizontal space (and look better narrow), whereas other do much better on a wide layout. 

Having this would open up dashboards to more plug ins and an even better opening page for Jira.
