Current state
The documentation on Bundled Tomcat and Java versions contains the list of each bundled Tomcat version in each version of Jira, but it doesn't mention supportability or compatibility or provide any disclaimers.
Issue
Some customers have specific needs of standardizing their environments and may try using other versions of Tomcat that aren't the bundled ones.
While this may be technically possible, each release of Jira is only tested, benchmarked and supported on the exact bundled Tomcat version.
If customers need to have a more recent Tomcat version, they should upgrade Jira to the matching version in the document.
They may have Jira work in another Tomcat version, but thats not supported anad we can't guarantee what issues they may run into later.
Request
Add a disclaimer notice informing Jira is only tested, benchmarked and supported on the exact bundled Tomcat version.
If there's a need to update Tomcat to a specific version, Jira should also be updated so the bundled Tomcat version matches.
While Jira may seem to work with a different Tomcat version other than what's bundled, it hasn't been tested, benchmarked or supported by Atlassian and we can't guarantee what unexpected issues they may run into.
