Step 1 of Linux/Unix Alternative: Generating thread dumps using scripts is to install a plugin called Thready. This plugin is not supported for new Jira versions anymore and we actually have it shipped out of the box - Thread diagnostics. I'd like to suggest replacing step 1 with ensuring that the thread diagnostics is enabled before taking thread dumps.
