Current behavior
The Universal Package Manager (UPM) displays a banner with the text This app has a Data Center license, but the installed version is not Data Center compatible. when one of two conditions are met:
Condition A
A (Marketplace) app is installed and licensed with a Data Center license. However, the Jira installation is Server, not Data Center.
Condition B
A (Marketplace) app is installed and licensed with a Data Center license. However, the app is not Data Center-compatible.
Impact
This language is confusing to administrators - especially those upgrading from Server to Data Center. It's unclear what the installed version refers to – the app or Jira Core. The message should be reworked and split for Condition A and Condition B.
Solution
Replace the error message with two more descriptive alternatives.
For Condition A: A Data Center license was provided for this app, but your Jira instance has a Server license. Upgrade to Jira Data Center to enable this app
For Condition B: A Data Center license was provided for this app, but the developer hasn't indicated that it's compatible with Data Center. Functionality may be limited.
