Update Audit log documentation

    XMLWordPrintable

Details

    Description

      Issue Summary

As per Audit log event documentation quoted:

      Category: Issue operations

      Coverage level Events logged
Base Issue link created, Issue link deleted
Advanced (additional events on top of Base) CURRENTLY NO ADDITIONAL EVENTS AVAILABLE
Full (additional events on top of Base and Advanced) CURRENTLY NO ADDITIONAL EVENTS AVAILABLE

Jira audit log will show "Issue link created" and "Issue link deleted" when a user creates or delete an issue link. After testing further, the information events are not shown but instead, the category falls under Category: Issues:

      Category: Issues

      Coverage level Events logged
      Base NO EVENTS AVAILABLE
Advanced (additional events on top of Base) Issue deleted, Issue archived, Issue restored, Issue attachment deleted, Comment of another user deleted, Sub-task deleted, Archived issues exported (8.12.0+), Issues exported (8.12.0+)
Full (additional events on top of Base and Advanced) Issue created, Issue comment added, Issue link created, Issue link deleted

The events only show "Issue link type created" and "Issue link type removed" when the Jira admin creates or deletes the issue linking type via Administration > Issues > Issue Linking:

This is reproducible on Data Center: (yes)

      Expected Results

We should update the https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver0820/audit-log-events-in-jira-1095777593.html#AuditlogeventsinJira-Category:Issueoperations documentation that the event only shows "Issue link type created" and "Issue link type removed" event under "Category: Issue operations" instead of "Issue link created" and "Issue link deleted" to avoid any confusion.

      Actual Results

The documentation currently is confusing for customers to read because they are looking for "Issue link created" and "Issue link deleted" events but the information can't be found when Global configuration and administration was set to Base via Audit log settings.

      Workaround

To shows events "Issue link type created" and "Issue link type removed", user needs to set Global configuration and administration to Advanced via Audit log settings.
