Hi everyone,
Thank you for your suggestion and for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We understand the frustration of some users for having an additional step when selecting a date in the date picker.
However, we want every team around the globe to be able to use Jira with the least amount of trouble. You can read more about Atlassian’s Accessibility Program
For this reason, after careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with this feature request at this time.
We understand that this may be disappointing, but we hope you understand our reasoning. We encourage you to continue sharing your ideas and feedback, as they are invaluable in helping us improve our products.

As a user, I'm having issues when filling up issue data fields on Jira 9.5, it now has an additional step when selecting a date, making users spend more time on it and even not filling up these fields properly.
It would be good to have an option to remove this additional step, where you need to confirm the date and cannot just select the desired date with pointer or select and press enter on keyboards.
Comparing the behavior on different Jira versions using the keyboard:
- Jira 8.20
- Reach the date field with tab.
- Just press down arrow key or press tab again to select the calendar icon, if so, press enter to effectively open the calendar.
- Select the desired date and just press enter, it will automatically fill the field.
- Jira 9.5
- Reach the date field with tab.
- Just press down arrow key or tab again to select the calendar icon, if so, press enter to effectively open the calendar.
- Select the desired date
- Press tab to reach the Confirm button and press enter to effectively fill the field.
