No proper error message to end user when editing an issue is restricted

XMLWordPrintable

When end-users does not have permission to see the Epic and Epic Link is added into the issue then end-users are unable to edit the issue. However, error message being displayed on the UI is not intuitive, i.e. editissue.error.component.notexists.

As a workaround when Epic Link is removed from edit screen end-users are able to edit the issue.

This has been observed in Jira version 9.6.0.

      Steps to Reproduce:-

      1. Create an issue security scheme and assign it to an epic making it restricted to particular user/group
      2. Create issues under this Epic
      3. Login with user who does not have permission to see the epic
      4. Try editing an issue under this Epic
      5. Editing an issue fails with error message editissue.error.component.notexists
