It would be useful to have statistics printed to a separate log file (rather than the application log). For example jira-stats, indexing-stats, replication-stats, etc.

This would be handy because most admins do not care primarily about stats and the production app log should be printed mostly ERROR level information, and not performance or other functional stats.
