When Jira authentication times out in the background it would be far less disruptive if a hover / popup screen was used to allow user to login, rather than redirecting to a separate login page.

 

Background

I use Jira every day at work, with multiple tabs open on multiple issues / screens. By far the most frustrating issue I have is when typing up a large response to an issue, I hit submit only to be redirected to a login page because it's logged me out in the background. After I hit ok for the saved login to be entered, it sometimes redirects me back to where I was but all my entered text has now been lost.

Every other modern web platform I work with allows login in a popup, such that when it's accepted I'm still on the same screen in the browser with no lost state.
