Make it possible to tell if a Jira issue was already associated to a component (or version) before this component (or version) was renamed

    Description

      Issue

If a component or a version is renamed while some Jira issues were already linked to them, it is currently not possible to tell from the issue history that the component or the version was renamed.

The reason behind is that Jira issues are linked to components (or versions) via the component ID (or version ID), and not by their name. So, if a component (or version) is renamed at the project level, from the Jira issue perspective, the component (or version) was not changed.

Because of this current behavior, it is not possible for Jira users to tell which issue(s) were impacted by the component (or version) renaming.

      Suggestion

      A few suggestions:

      • reflect the renaming of components (and versions) in the issue history tab (if an issue was already linked to them)
      • or create a new JQL function to search for issues which were already linked to the component (or version) before they were renamed
