What is MAM

Mobile device management (MDM) is a device lifecycle management technology that enables IT to deploy, configure, manage, support and secure mobile devices through MDM profiles installed on the devices. 

Mobile application management (MAM) technologies apply management and policy controls to individual apps instead of the entire device. MAM solutions typically offer a custom app store that enables control and delivery of both internally-developed and third-party apps. IT admins can add security, encryption and control to mobile apps using AppConfig Community standards or software development kit (SDK) or app wrapping solutions from the MAM provider.

referenced as example, no particular sticking to MS Intune. In general allows a precise control of how data flows. And especially for BYOD company policy ensure that document won't leave corporate perimeter.

Requirement Gathering

We feel a high demand on MAM and looking for a way on mobile to give the best option(s) possible.

MAM Providers are not defined, if you do NOT see yours let us know, we heard a lot MS Intune, VMWare AirWatch, MobileIron, Blackberry.

Thus we evaluate several options that might work:

• Application Wrapping
  • pre-wrapping: Stores will contain apps ready for MAM Provider
  • self-service: Provided service that allows to get binaries and wrap them inHouse
• SDK binding (not for every MAM)
• Based on MDM solution
