Problem Definition

We have a project that allows the Epic Name field to be optional as part of the Epic issue creation.

After unlocking the Epic Name field in the Default Field Configuration as outlined in the knowledge base article, we are able to change the field to Optional. Upon a restart of the Jira instance or a certain period of time (roughly a week), the field is reverted to Required automatically.

Suggested Solution

We would like the ability to set the Epic Name field to Optional without it being reverted back to Required.
